My Opinion on being a Feminist?

When I first heard of the word Feminist, to be honest I hard no idea what that meant exactly. I just felt it sounded pretty cool to be called a feminist. To add Beyonce gave popularity to that word in her song flawless. I felt that word entitles you power to do things, control your own environment as a woman and not let anyone look down on your gender. In writing this article I tried to search for a clear definition of the word Feminist and most definitions are someone fighting for equal rights between men and women.

Now over time I have heard people do things and say things that are different from how I would define that word, Feminist.

My definition would be being your truest form of yourself as a woman, I believe that word is relative to who ever is using it; that is why I could say both men and women can be feminist.

People often frown at other women who say that they aren't feminist. You don't believe me?!

Let me be the first to break it down to you that I do not classify my self as a feminist, it is my choice to do so and one of my biggest reasons is because I cannot seem to find any precise definition of what that actually means. In today's world everyone is giving different meanings that is partly why I believe it has become relative to the person.

While i'll not undervalue the problems that women go through in today's world, I also believe that word(Feminist) should not be used as a cure to solve those problems. Women should fight on the basis of equal qualification and experience especially when it comes to pay issues and not gender. In most cases i do not believe gender should be a form of superiority or defense because men and women are created differently and we should enjoy each others differences and similarities as much as we can.

Now you may say, if you are not a feminist who are you?

Very simple, I am a woman; I believe that word alone carries so much power. I am an achiever, I do not quit easily, I like to be myself, laugh when i'm happy , cry sometimes or may even be a little dramatic to my loved ones, I like to be cuddled, I love the idea of cooking for my man, and taking care of him also it gives me a good feeling.

I know what some of you are thinking. why should you want to take care of a man, it makes you weak?

Well if I was dating a woman, I would do the same for her. So why should I be afraid to say I am caring, cooking, washing and cleaning for my man. I mean we are not fighting men are we? We are the only genders of human species put on this earth and I believe there is a purpose for that so why can't I just love without being afraid of how i choose to do so and not be called weak.

So in all of this I would not consider myself to be a feminist except it is defined as living your best life the way you want to as a woman.
